This makes me so stoked to hear the whole Flannel Channel record! The FC project is like a collection of hip hop inspired beats created by DJ Dirty Ern and CJB (Chris Bittner)… mostly originating from the iPhone beatmaking app. They then took their beats to Applehead Studio, where CJB has been the house engineer for nearly a decade (pretty much since he left 3). There the duo breathed life into the beats, as only they could do, and brought in an array of talented friends to make each beat a beautiful song of their own. See, Chris has touched many classic records with his original production sound… such as the genre-definers: 3 - Paint By Number, Coheed and Cambria - Second Stage Turbine Blade, Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, The Sleeping - Believe What We Tell You, Codeseven - Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds, Straylight Run - Straylight Run, Anadivine - Zoo, Weerd Science - Friends and Nervous Breakdowns, Four Letter Lie - Let Your Body Take Over, The Sleeping - Questions and Answers, Medicated Kisses - Medicated Kisses… to name a few. I’ve been a fan of every record his name is attached to, whether or not I knew at the time he was associated with it. The duo started out sharing information on the project via twitter, and have since created a tumblr and a facebook page. Across all three resources I have been able to piece together that in addition to Weerd Science (Josh Eppard)… Gartdrumm (3), Joey Eppard (3), Alanna Quinn (Medicated Kisses), Ant Masington (Session 606), Emily Long, Jared Colby (Trapdoor Studios), Mazeman, Pugs, Rick Whispers, Ryan Moran (The Midnight Renewal), and Sarai have also participated in the project throwing their own essence into the mixing pot of Flannel Channel songs.
What was really fucking cool was- last night Dirty Ern began streaming live from Applehead on his iPhone giving us at home an exclusive glimpse of what goes on when Weerd Science is writing/tracking a song! After tuning into the Flannel Channel, every clip that’s been shared is stuck on loop in my mind. The final product is bound to be ridiculous. I’m writhing in anxiety until I get the chance to pop that record in my car stereo and let the magic seep into my ear canals! Thankfully I got to cool myself off a bit by chatting with fellow fans on the ustream page and then in a tinychat when the stream wrapped.
Now the question that remains… Where the fuck is Sick Kids?!?!?
